World was very impressed when it came to know that Israel had fought the China Wuhan Virus, by vaccinating majority of its people. When Israel economy and society was revamping and emerging it is under attack by Hamas and lesser known Jihadi groups. Hamas which is seeking the opportunity to marginalise Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and to present itself as the guardians of Palestinians in Jerusalem is not worried about the holy month too. Israel has been at the receiving end for no reason of it as White House said that Israel had a legitimate right to defend itself from rocket attacks.
What is the root of the Conflict? In Jerusalem’s Old City lies the hill known to Jews across the world as Temple Mount the holiest site in Judaism and to Muslims internationally as The Noble Sanctuary. It was home to the Jewish temples of antiquity. Two Muslim holy places now stand there, the Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqsa Mosque. Christians also revere the city as the place where they believe that Jesus preached, died and was resurrected. It is said that Jews are even scared to step on Temple Mount due to its sanctity and reverence. Temple Mount signifies Old Heritage Indian Temple. If one sees it they immediately feel their attachment to it as it follows many of India rituals there. Israel claims all of Jerusalem as its capital due to their Historical roots where King Solomon had united 12 Jew Tribes to form the Nation. Now Palestinians among Israel’s 21% Arab minority want East Jerusalem as the capital of their future state.
Everything was at peace before the beginning of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan in mid-April. Palestinians who had faced off nightly with Israeli police in East Jerusalem to stop evening gatherings at the walled Old City’s Damascus Gate, saw the barriers as a restriction on their freedom to assemble. Police said they were there to maintain order. Secondly Tensions have also been high over a long-running legal case that could see multiple Palestinian families evicted from their homes to make way for Israeli settlers who, backed by an Israeli court ruling, want to move in. Third came Israel commemorated its capture of East Jerusalem in a 1967 war with a march on Monday, Hamas and the Islamic Jihad militant group fired rocket barrages towards Jerusalem and its surrounding suburbs.
The fighting has since escalated dramatically with militants firing hundreds of rockets towards Tel Aviv and Israel. It is stated that Hamas has amassed some 7,000 rockets, as well as 300 anti-tank and 100 anti-aircraft missiles. The Hamas militant group from Gaza strip fired 1,000 rocket launches overnight that shuttered Israel’s only airport, lit up the sky over Tel Aviv and sent much of the Jewish state into bomb shelters. It did not restrain during the holy period.
Since 2001, Palestinian militants have also launched thousands of rocket and mortar attacks on Israel from the Gaza Strip as part of the continuing Arab–Israeli conflict. The attacks, widely condemned for targeting civilians, have been described as terrorism by the United Nations, the European Union, and Israeli officials, and are defined as war crimes by human rights groups Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch. The international community considers indiscriminate attacks on civilian targets to be illegal under international law.
On the evening between 23-24 April 2021 36 rockets were fired towards Israel from Gaza, six of which were intercepted by the Israel Defense Forces’ Iron Dome defense system. Although there were no injuries, property was damaged in several communities in Israel. On 10 May 2021 Hamas took credit for firing 7 rockets at Jerusalem and Beit Shemesh from Gaza. One of the missiles was intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defense system, and at least one of the other rockets landed in a village west of Jerusalem. Some homes were damaged, by no causalities were reported. In a separate incident an Israeli driver was wounded when an anti-tank missile fired from Gaza hit the vehicle. Islamic Jihad took credit for that attack.
Holy Month has become no reverence for Terror organizations like Hamas who displayed its ability to strike deep into Israeli territory as far south as Beersheva and as far inland as the Ben Gurion International Airport. Rationales given by the Palestinian groups responsible for the attacks vary. They include the arguments that violence against Jews is a religious obligation that brings one closer to God, that the rockets are effective at drawing attention to Palestinian issues, and that they avenge perceived Israeli aggression. Hamas co-founder Mahmoud Zahar has said that the goal of the attacks is to force mass migration in Israel and disrupt the daily life of its citizens.
Western allies condemned Hamas for its indiscriminate rocket fire targeting civilians. President Joe Biden directed national security adviser Jake Sullivan and secretary of state Antony Blinken to reach out to their Israeli counterparts. Israeli has also retaliated and has done air strikes toppled high rise buildings in Gaza city and on Wednesday killed a squad of Hamas militants and senior commanders. Israel said it had sent 80 jets to bomb Gaza, and dispatched infantry and armour to reinforce the tanks already gathered on the border. The Israeli military said the demolished multi-story building, in Gaza City’s Rimal neighbourhood, housed “multiple” Hamas offices, including ones for military research and development and military intelligence. People reported that they received warnings from Israel to evacuate ahead of a possible attack.
Finally one can say that Terrorist and their organizations do no the value of holy month of their own religion. For no reason during this pandemic they are creating social economic collapse of Middle East and the world at large. For some aid and recognition they are targeting civilians and a nation. Already world saw Suez Crisis and the supply Chain glut. If there is one more conflict in Middle East then the world is not ready to face it. Fuel Price rise the cascading effect on different Nation’s economy in the region will have tremendous impact. For now Terror organization should stop and restrain disturbing nation states and targeting it. For now Israel has defended itself alone, it is for the world to stand with a democratic nation for its survivability. From Kargil War to India Pakistan War Israel has stood with India it is for India to decide to help a friend who is in crisis from external Terror Organizations as Terrorists everywhere are threat to sovereign nations. Already America and Nato troops are leaving Afghanistan while Africa is under attack from Al Qaeda to ISIS, Boka Haram so one more Hamas should not reemerge in Gaza which is reshaping like it…For now Terror Organizations do no sacredness of their own religion except power and aid.
