With no end in sight to violence unleashed in West Bengal by the Trinamool Congress’ cadre, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Tuesday dialled Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar.

Governor Dhankhar said Prime Minister Modi “expressed his serious anguish and concern at the alarmingly worrisome law & order situation” in West Bengal.

More than 15 BJP karyakartas and their family members have lost their lives. Many party offices and homes have been torched.

Governor Dhankhar had on Monday summoned the DGP and the Kolkata Police Commissioner the Raj Bhawan.
He asked the senior police officials to maintain law and order in the state.

BJP National President J P Nadda, with other senior members of the party, is on a two-day visit to the state.
He will be meeting the family members of the murdered BJP workers.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had been threatening the BJP members since the start of the poll process.

Her ministers were also asking the cadre to “see” the BJP workers once the results were declared.

Senior TMC leaders Derek O’Brien and Mahua Moitra tacitly justified the violence.
