Rohit Sardana, Hindi TV News Anchor, Passes Away

In a shocking news Friday, Executive Editor of Hindi News channel Aaj Tak, Rohit Sardana, passed away. He was 41.

Sardana was Covid positive since April 24. He was in home isolation.

Since Thursday morning, he started facing some difficulties and was shifted to a private hospital in Noida.

In hospital too, he was fine till late Thursday night but suddenly Friday morning, his condition started deteriorating.
He suffered a cardiac arrest around 11 am.

He is survived by his wife and two daughters.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled his death writing that his untimely death had left a huge void in journalism and he would be missed by many.

He tweeted, “Rohit Sardana left us too soon. Full of energy, passionate about India’s progress and a kind hearted soul, Rohit will be missed by many people. His untimely demise has left a huge void in the media world. Condolences to his family, friends and admirers. Om Shanti.”

President Ram Nath Kovind condoled his death writing his untimely death is a huge loss for journalism.

He tweeted, “लोकप्रिय न्यूज़ ऐंकर तथा वरिष्ठ पत्रकार रोहित सरदाना के निधन का समाचार अत्यंत दुखद है। उनका असामयिक निधन पत्रकारिता जगत के लिए बहुत बड़ी क्षति है। श्री सरदाना के परिवारजनों व प्रशंसकों को मेरी शोक संवेदनाएं।”

People from all walks of life expressed their condolences on the sudden and untimely death of Sardana. His evening programme on Aaj Tak, Dangal, has become a household name.

Till the very last, he was asking for help for Covid affected people on social media platforms.

Aroon Purie, Founder & Chairperson, India Today Group expressed his shock and anguish over Sardana’s death.
He tweeted, “Rohit Sardana was a brilliant young professional. And a star of our newsroom. He had conquered the hearts of both TV and digital viewers. He had so much more to do. I am anguished beyond words. All strength to the family for handling this untimely loss.”

Sardana had joined Aaj Tak in 2017 after a stint with Zee News.

In his college days, he was associated with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad.

The ABVP condoled his death tweeting, “ABVP is deeply saddened by passing away of former ABVP karyakarta and renowned journalist Shri Rohit Sardana, who was battling with Covid-19.

With his demise, the country has lost a honest, fearless journalist. We are with his family and friends in this hour of grief.”
