RSS swayamsevaks engaged in service of Corona patients
KARNAVATI: How things can be repeated and achieved with a clockwork efficiency can be seen in Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. At present, the crisis arising due to the spread of COVID-19 is worsening. The number of people getting infected and dying due to this deadly respiratory disease is augmenting rapidly. In such an environment, there is frustration and fear among the public.
Sangh’s swayamsevaks have solved all these problems in such a scenario and are now engaged in service ideals that are natural to them.
Surat metropolis is facing a grimmer COVID condition than most places in Gujarat province. The volunteers of the metropolis are engaged in service work without losing patience. If there is a new type of problem, then the volunteers get engaged in a new type of service work. At Surat’s Civil Hospital (COVID Care), volunteers serve three times in groups of ten each. Tea snacks are served from 9 am to 11 am, breakfast/lunch is given from 11 am to 1.30 pm, and dinner from 6 am to 7.30 pm are provided by volunteers wearing PPE kits. If some patients have difficulty taking food due to oxygen masks or other reasons, they are fed by volunteers. They also work to get the sick to communicate with their family members by video conferencing.
Due to many dead bodies in the Surat metropolis, wood was falling short in the crematorium. To solve this problem, the volunteers procured a total of 28 tonnes of additional wood.
In many cases, on the death of Corona patients, relatives of the deceased are also hesitant in performing the last rites. Also, people who do not know Hindu rites took help from volunteers of Godhra city of Panchmahal district. A group of 15 swayamsevaks is helping out and performing the sacred last rituals.
