Since the hearing started in the Delhi High Court last week about the management of Covid-19 in Delhi, the court has been very critical of the Arvind Kejriwal government.
It pulled up the administration for many lapses which otherwise could have been easily avoided.
The Delhi government under Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal passed a very unusual order Monday, turning a part of five-star Ashoka Hotel into a Covid facility reserved for the judges and judicial officers of the Delhi High Court and their family members.
The Primus Hospital of Chanakyapuri has been given the responsibility of setting up the facility.
The order has been passed in “in overall imminent public interest”. It does not detail how reserving a five-star hotel into a Covid facility for Hon’ble judges is in public interest.
This very unusual order drew a lot of public criticism.
Veteran journalist Kanchan Gupta wrote, “The virus is the same for everybody, but privileges are different.”
Arvind Kejriwal is being criticised for issuing a large number of advertisements in the press and social media all over the country.
The Delhi government has spent over 800 crore rupees in the last two years for advertisements.
The Kejriwal government has issued advertisements in newspapers all over the country for arranging cryogenic tanks for carrying medical Oxygen.
