Notorious leader of pro-Caliphate Hefazat-e-Islam, Mamunul Haque has started revealing bone-chilling information to the interrogators. According to Bangladesh Police sources, Mamunul was connected to a terrorist group by Pakistani spy agency Inter Service Intelligence (ISI) with the assignment of forming a militancy group with madrassa students in Bangladesh, with the agenda of unseating Awami League government.

Mamunul’s brother-in-law involved in August 21 grenade attacks

Mamunul told interrogators, his Pakistan connection was established by his own brother-in-law (sister’s husband) Moulana Mufti Muhammed Neyamotullah, who lived in Pakistan for more than a decade. During his stay in Pakistan, Neyamotullah succeeded in drawing attention of the leaders of Lashkar-e-Toiba and few more Pakistani militancy outfits. On his return to Bangladesh, Moulana Mufti Muhammed Neyamotullah joined a madrassa named Jamiya Rahmania. Neyamotullah was having intimacy with Moulana Tazuddin, a prime accused in August-21 grenade attacks on Awami League’s rally. As Neyamotullah was also arrested for his involvement in August 21 grenade attacks, his father-in-law Allama Azizul Huq managed in getting him released by using his connections with Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). Azizul Huq’s party, Khelafat Majlish is a political ally of BNP.

Back in 2005, Mamunul Haque visited Pakistan along with his brother-in-law Neyamotullah. He was first encouraged by Pakistani spy agency to extend support towards anti-Ahmadiyya groups in Bangladesh, while he also was asked to increase influence within the Tablighi Jamaat. Mamunul was also assigned to play role in forming a political force with madrassa students and teachers. Pakistani ISI had provided cash for Mamunul’s initial activities, while it had also promised funding his future activities in Bangladesh.

Mamunul Haque involved in counterfeit Indian currency circulation

According to suggestion of Pakistani spy agency ISI, Mamunul Haque was provided a link with the counterfeit Indian currency smuggling racket. It may be mentioned here that, Pakistani spy agency has been printing and injecting hundreds of millions of counterfeit Indian currencies into India through multiple borders. It may also be mentioned here that, notorious don Dawood Ibrahim’s D Company is one of the main handlers of counterfeit Indian currency. Although Mamunul has not yet admitted his involvement into counterfeit Indian currency racket, a credible source said, it is important for the Bangladeshi investigation agencies to ask Mamunul about this extremely important matter.

Mamunul Haque’s Jamaat connection

According to information, Mamunul Haque’s wife’s brother-in-law, Kamrul Islam Ansari is a prominent leader of Jamaat-e-Islami. Kamrul hails from Tekerhat area in Faridpur district. By using his Jamaat connection, Mamunul Haque succeeded in increasing his influence within the Islamist forces in Bangladesh. He also has used the students of Qawmi madrassas in favor of Jamaat-e-Islami’s agendas.

It is also learned from credible source, Mamunul Haque was introduced to BNP leader Mahmudur Rahman by Tasnim Ahmed, a prominent leader of Jamaat-e-Islami, who was holding shares in Mahmudur’s vernacular daily Amar Desh. Later, Mahmudur Rahman linked Mamunul Haque with a number of BNP leaders, including Tarique Rahman. In 2012, Mahmudur Rahman started plotting an Islamist coup in Bangladesh with the help of Hefazat-e-Islam, where he had selected Mamunul Haque as one of the key coordinators. Prior to Hefazat’s notorious activities in 2013, Mahmudur Rahman and other top leaders of BNP had promised Mamunul the position of a state minister and a large amount of cash incentive along with a plot in Dhaka.

Hefazat-e-Islam received huge amount from Dubai, Qatar and Pakistan

According to sources, Mamunul Haque has already admitted of receiving huge amount of cash from “various individuals” in Pakistan, Dubai and Qatar for spending towards Hefazat-e-Islam’s plot of ousting Awami League government and turning Bangladesh into an Islamic republic.

Pakistani ISI’s special assignment to Hefazat-e-Islam

According to intelligence sources, Mamunul Haque has told the interrogators, he and Hefazat was assigned by Pakistani spy agency ISI to spread anti-India and anti-Modi sentiment in Bangladesh by using the Babri mosque issue. Mamunul had also funded several Islamist individuals for proclaiming jihad against India and Narendra Modi through waz mahfils [Islamic sermon pronouncement gatherings]. Accordingly, those hired speakers were inciting anti-India jihad in Bangladesh, while some of the speakers went further by threatening of chopping the heads of Hindus, non-Muslims and secularist forces in Bangladesh, branding them as “Indian agents”.

Mamunul Haque’s connection with Bangabandhu’s killer

According to intelligence sources, Mamunul Haque’s first wife Amina Tayyiba’s family is heavily inclined towards Jamaat-e-Islami, while Amina’s father is the brother of Bangabandhu’s self-proclaimed killer Major (sacked) Shariful Haque Dalim’s wife.

Hefazat-e-Islam’s cyber worriers still untouched

Despite publication of series of investigative reports in Blitz, exposing notorious cyber jihadist activities of several Hefazat-e-Islam members and activists, law enforcement agencies are yet to take legal action against those culprits.
