The Congress, Left and TMC have massively practised Muslim appeasement politics over the years in West Bengal, said Mamata Banerjee’s political advisor Prashant Kishor.
It’s significant considering Kishor is the one who is managing the poll campaign for the Trinamool Congress in West Bengal.
He further added the political ecosystem has been nurtured in such a way in Bengal that it’s heavily tilted towards Muslims.
Since Independence in 1947, West Bengal has been ruled by Congress, Left and TMC. The Congress party ruled for the first three decades. It was succeeded by more than three decade rulf of the Left.
Mamata Banerjee led Trinamool Congress wrested power in 2011.
Explaining the rise of the BJP in Bengal Kishor said it was established norm in Bengal that the party which would get the Muslim vote would form the government.
For the first time, Hindus are feeling that there is a party which values their vote.
Kishor also admitted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a very popular leader in Bengal. He said, “In our internal surveys, we found Modi to be very popular with voters in Bengal.”
He also said that the majority of scheduled castes are voting for the BJP.
Kishor was discussing Bengal politics with journalists on Club House, a platform for virtual meetings.
There is huge anti-incumbency against Mamata Banerjee but no anti-incumbency feeling for Narendra Modi, he added.
Prashant Kishor was brought in by Mamata Banerjee to manage the election campaign for the Trinamool Congress in West Bengal.
