New Delhi: Actress-turned-neta and BJP candidate from Uluberia Dakshin Papiya Adhikari on Tuesday alleged that she was assaulted by the Trinamool Congress workers.

A television video of her being heckled and slapped also went viral on television news channels and social media.
The BJP workers have alleged that Papia Adhikari was prevented from entering the polling station.

“I am surprised the manner things turned out. Politics is certainly no longer for good people,” an upset actress later told a television channel.

“Certainly, they were from Trinamool and one of them I remember was very tall,” she said.

Ms Papia is locked in a triangular contest against sitting MLA Pulak Roy of Trinamool Congress and a Left candidate.
West Bengal went for the third phase of polling on Tuesday in 31 assembly constituencies including eight in Hooghly, seven in Howrah and 16 in South 24 Parganas.

Earlier in the day, addressing an election rally at Coach Behar in North Bengal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee she has scored a ‘self-goal in politics like in football after her ‘khela’ in Nandigram.

“Didi, people say you play a lot of football. The day you did ‘khela’ at the polling booth in Nandigram, the same day entire country could understand that you have lost the elections”.

The Prime Minister also said that a huge turnout of voters – around 80 per cent on average – meant the state’s ruling party Trinamool is losing.

“You (Mamata Banerjee) appealed for Muslim unity and said their votes should not be divided. You are asking for help. It shows that the Muslim vote bank, which you considered as your strength, has also failed you,” Mr Modi said.
