A prominent Saudi daily, Saudi Gazette, has praised the Narendra Modi government for taking various development initiatives in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir post abrogation of Article 370.

The Saudi Gazette has also written the local leaders of the erstwhile state, who were criticising the Modi government, have been proved wrong.

It noted “The Indian Government has remained firm in its decisions to ensure that the region is pulled from the quagmire of uncertainty.”

Acknowledging the decline in number of stone pelting incidents, the Gazette praised the government for opening employment opportunities for the Kashmiri youth.

The Government of India abrogated the Article 370 of the Indian Constitution on August 5, 2019. This article provided the special status to the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.

The state of Jammu and Kashmir was rearranged into two union territories of J & K and Ladakh.

The daily has noted that the Kashmiri youths were “misguided to take up arms in a proxy war against a welfare state”
