The civilians in Myanmar have adopted a unique method of protest. They are leaving garbage on the streets and urging others to do the same.
They hope this unique ‘Garbage Strike’ will draw the attention of the world towards the atrocities committed by the military in Myanmar.
The military in Myanmar captured power after overthrowing the elected government on February 1.
More than 500 people have been killed by the military since then.
The military had ruled Myanmar for a long period and conducted democratic elections in the country in 2015 under international pressure.
Aung San Suu Kyi’s party won handsomely. But the military retained a fair share of power through proxies.
On many occasions, it had expressed its displeasure over loss of power in the country.
The newly elected US President Joe Biden condemned the military action in Myanmar. He asked the military to restore the democratic structure at the earliest.
