For the first time since Independence in 1947, the hoisting of the Tricolour has been made mandatory in all government offices and buildings in Jammu and Kashmir.
The order to this effect was issued on March 26.
The circular noted “…it is impressed upon all District/Sectoral Heads/Tehsil/Block level officers to ensure that National Flag is flown on all Government offices/buildings across the district within 15 days positively.”
The Union Government had abrogated Article 370 on August 5, 2019. The erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir was rearranged into Union Territories of J & K and Ladakh.
The Article 370 provided the special status to the state of J & K. Article 35A also stands abrogated.
