Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Thursday reminded people about the sacrifices of the Kothari brothers for the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
Ram Kumar Kothari and Sharad Kumar Kothari, famous as the Kothari brothers, were shot dead by the Uttar Pradesh police in November 1990.
The Kothari brothers, who lived in Kolkata, had gone to Ayodhya in October 1990 to perform the Kar Seva.
They were in their early 20s when police shot them dead from point-blank range.
Both the brothers were devotees of Shri Ram and had dreamed of a grand Ram temple in Ayodhya.
Their sister, Purnima Kothari, was one of the invitees for the Bhoomi Poojan ofthe grand Ram temple on August 5 last year.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed the Bhoomi Poojan of the grand Ram temple. Because of the Covid-19 restrictions at the time, very limited people were invited for the pooja.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was campaigning in Nandigram. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is contesting from the constituency.
The voting for the 294 seats of the West Bengal Assembly is spread over eight phases, starting March 27. The counting of votes will start on May 2.
