The authorities in Ayodhya have identified five Ramayana-era water bodies for rejuvenation under the Namami Gange programme.

The identified water bodies are Brahma Kund, Fatehgang, Shri Sita Ram Mandir Kund, Lal Digghi and Swami Ram Ji Das Ashram Talab.

The Ministry of Jal Shakti, which runs the programme Namami Gange, has set a target of 18 months to complete the project.

It has also been decided to make an effort to integrate art into the everyday life of people.

The government aims to develop Ayodhya into an international religious tourism hub.

The Supreme Court, in a landmark judgment in 2019, paved the way for the construction of a grand Shri Ram temple in Ayodhya.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the Bhoomi Poojan for the temple on August 5 last year.
