Jacobite Church on Tuesday said that they were hopeful that the talks with RSS would yield positive results and added that RSS was trying to understand the problems faced by the church. The church’s statement comes after its meeting with RSS Sah-Sarkaryavah Dr. Manmohan Vaidya at the organisation’s office in Kochi on Wednesday. Bishops and other clergymen from the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church were also present for the meeting.
The leaders of the two denominations had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi in a move to find a lasting solution to a century-old property dispute between the two groups.
Following the meeting in Kochi, Father Sleeba Paul, trustee of priests of the Jacobite Syrian Church who was among those who met Vaidya, had told media that all they wanted was a permanent solution to the dispute and his Church would back the BJP if it found a remedy.
The Jacobite church also added that the church would help anyone who helps the church. With the Kerala elections scheduled to happen on April 6, the Church’s statement has political consequences.
