Guwahati: Amidst all political activities in the poll-bound Assam, the chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal took time to attend a book release function where the Assamese translation of Union home minister Amit Shah’s biography was released. State minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who has translated the book titled ‘Amit Shah and the March of BJP’ into Assamese as ‘Amit Shah Aru Agragami BJP’ was there to welcome everyone including the State BJP chief Ranjeet Kr Dass.

Organised at Hotel Taj Vivanta in the city on 8 March 2021, the function also witnessed the gracious presence of DoNER minister Jitendra Singh, the saffron party’s national vice president and Assam in-charge Baijayant Jay Panda, its national general secretary Dilip Saikia, etc where everyone praised the working spirit of Shah enriched with the extraordinary vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi which has made the party as a largest political entity in the independent Bharat.

Written in English the book, penned by Anirban Ganguly and Shiwanand Dwivedi, highlights the successful political journey of the BJP stalwart at the backdrop of the saffron party’s evolution as the largest political party in the world. It also reflects the struggling time of Shah in the early parts of his political career as a BJP worker, his phenomenal rise and finally the triumph.

Realising the book officially, Sonowal appreciated Sarma for translating the book that describes the contributions of Shah to the country eloquently. He also hailed the original writers Ganguly and Dwivedi, who were also present on the occasion, for selecting the life of Shah, who is known as one of the well-read politicians in the country.

Sarma, who serves as North East Democratic Alliance convenor, commented that Shah has immense knowledge about the country, its civilisation and varies culture. The level of respect that Shah maintains for Shrimanta Shankardev, the greatest son of the soil in far eastern Bharat, is astounding, Sarma acknowledged adding that the book was a humble tribute to the eruditeness Shah.

“When I finally met Amit Shah Ji and began working with him for the party, I could realize that I had already wasted 22 years of my life for the Congress party,” stated Sarma, who emerged as an architect of BJP’s tenacious win in the north-eastern political space, adding that a family-run party (read the Congress) can never recognize or appreciate the talents.

The BJP led alliance is understood to return to power with the State legislative assembly polls scheduled for 27 March, 1 and 6 April, as the recent opinion poll carried out by Times Now-C Voters predicted its win with 67 seats (out of 126 assembly constituencies), where the opposition alliance led by the Congress may get 57 seats with others only 2 seats.
