A 23-year old Ayesha Arif Khan ended her life Thursday by jumping in the Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad.
Before jumping into the river, she recorded a video message from the Riverfront where she narrated her story in short.
She says she loves her husband Arif but he doesn’t love her.
The police registered a case of abetment to suicide against the victim’s husband and her in-laws on the complaint of her father.
The father told the police her daughter was married to Rajasthan-based Arif in July 2018. But immediately after, her husband and in-laws started torturing her for not bringing enough in dowry.
This torture did not stop even after the payment of 2.5 lakh rupees. In March last year, Arif sent Ayesha to her parent’s home in Ahmedabad.
In the video message, Ayesha expresses her love for Arif. Immediately after recording the video, she sent it to her father and husband. And jumped in the river.
