In a landmark judgement regarding the matters of inter-faith marriage, Allahabad High Court has asked a Muslim man to deposit Rs 3 Lakh in the name of the Hindu woman who had converted to Islam to marry him. The court asked Bijnior police to give protection to these couples.
In the present case, one Shaista Parveen alias Sangeeta and her husband, a Muslim, had moved a writ petition on December 16, 2019, stating they had solemnised their marriage and were living together of their own free will, but were being harassed by their family members. The court has fixed February 8 as the next date of hearing. The court also directed that by this date the second petitioner (husband) should be present before the court with a fixed deposit receipt of Rs 3 lakh in favour of the first petitioner (wife).
With the rising case of Hindu women being lured by Muslim boys in India, many state governments have come with anti-love jihad laws to protect the Hindu women. There have been many instances of domestic violence by their Muslim husband and his family against the Hindu women, forcing them to convert to Islam. Several cases based on Love Jihad laws are also registered in Uttar Pradesh.
