In a dramatic move made by Telangana police, a Chinese national was arrested on Wednesday at Delhi airport minutes before he was about to board a flight to Frankfurt. Zhu Wei alias Lambo (27) was under the radar of the Telangana police for his involvement in loan apps scam. His Indian colleague Natarajan was arrested from Delhi. So far, the police have arrested four Chinese nationals, three in the loan apps scam and the fourth for running a fraud online gambling site where many Indians lost their money.
While being interrogated Lambo denied his links with any of the loan apps but on further investigation, the police found evidence from his laptop. Senior police officers say that Lambo was the head of four different companies running seven different call centres- two each in Gurugram and Bangalore and three in Hyderabad. The tele-callers were trained to harass people who failed to repay their loan amount. Three people have committed suicide in Telangana due to this- including a government servant and an engineer.
Natarajan has revealed that Lambo reports to another Chinese national, Yuan Yuan who is currently in China. Investigations have also revealed that companies like Aglow Technologies Pvt Ltd, Liufang Technologies Pvt Ltd, Nabloom Technologies Pvt Ltd and Pinprint Technologies Pvt Ltd were used to make transactions in crores, many of them in Bitcoins.
