?In memory of the man of pleasure?; Alcoholic drink named after the founder of Islamic Pakistan

The picture of the bottle of an alcoholic drink named after Pakistan’s Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah is taking rounds in the social media. The bottle is of Gin named ‘Ginnah’. The description on the bottle claimed that MA Jinnah enjoyed those actives that are ‘Haram’ (forbidden) in Islam like Pool billiards, Pork Sausages, cigars, fine scotch, whiskey and gin. The story was broken by ANI, but it couldn’t confirm the veracity of the bottle. This picture is an embarrassment to the apologists of Pakistan since it shows their founding father as a ‘less-Muslim’.

The description on the bottle says “Mohammad Ali Jinnah was the founder of Pakistan that came to being in 1947 as a secular state. Decades later, the country was pushed over the cliff by a military dictator, aided by supporters in Washington.D.C., and converted to a troubled place where he and some of the religious clergy pursued their sister designs. M.A Jinnah would never have approved of that, for he much enjoyed pool billiard, cigars, pork sausages as well as fine scotch, whiskey and gin”.

MA Jinnah was born on December 25, 1876, in Karachi, now in Pakistan. He campaigned for an independent Pakistan based on its religious identity. The description mentions the coup carried out by military general Muhammad Zia-Ul-Haq who had deposed the then Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto in 1977.
