Islamists are angry with Netflix, the US-based media services provider. According to exiled Egyptian Islamist Wagmedia di Ghoneim, who is currently based in Turkey, Netflix is anti-Islamic as it promotes homosexuality, adultery, heresy and drug addiction.
The Islamic scholar observed that the media platform is a “prostitute of a channel” that preaches “total liberation” and that people should be free from prohibitions and restrictions. “Boycott Netflix, immediately, which is a criminal, sinner, prostitute of a channel. Netflix is a satellite channel [sic] that has many subscribers, unfortunately. Maybe they are not aware [of its nature] when they pay the subscription fee. It is true that this fee is a small sum, but a little and a little and a little adds up to lot for [Netflix]. This criminal channel preaches something called ‘lifestyle.’ Lifestyle means a new way of life,” said Wagdi Ghoneim.
According to the Islamic scholar, Netflix never distinguishes between Halal and Haram. “What’s new about it? Freeing yourself of all restrictions. In other words, it means that there is no such thing as Halal and Haram. Do whatever you want and as you please. What is this? It is heresy. This channel allows all the things that are Haram,” he added.
