The victims were identified as Fida Hussain Yatoo, district general secretary of the BJYM, and two party workers, Umar Ramzan Hajam and Umar Rashid Beig.
The terrorists opened fire at the BJP workers at Y K Pora village in Kulgam, South Kashmir. Fida Hussain Yatoo died immediately. The other two died on the way to a local hospital at Qazigund.
“Today, at about 2020 hours, Kulgam police received information about a terror crime incident at Y K Pora, where terrorists had fired upon three BJP workers,” police said in an official statement. “Preliminary investigations revealed that terrorists fired upon three BJP workers at Eidgah Y K Pora, due to which they got injured. Police said a case has been registered. A joint team of J&K Police, Army and paramilitary forces have cordoned off the area and started search operations.

As the Islamic terrorists continue to target BJP leaders in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, at least nine BJP leaders and workers have been killed in various terror attacks this year.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday condemned the killing of three BJP workers in Jammu and Kashmir. “I condemn the killing of 3 of our young Karyakartas. They were bright youngsters doing excellent work in J&K,” PM Modi said in a tweet. “My thoughts are with their families in this time of grief. May their souls rest in peace,” he tweeted.
