Jammu & Kashmir: Addressing a Global seminar on the occasion of the observance of “Black Day” throughout the world in connection with Pakistan’s raid on Jammu & Kashmir on October 22, 1947, Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, senior BJP and Kashmiri Pandit leader and Incharge: Deptt of Political Affairs and Feedback, J&K-BJP said, “the armed aggression of Pakistan alongwith the tribesmen in 1947 on the then Jammu and Kashmir state was an open act of genocidal action against the minorities of the state which left hundreds of thousands of them as refugees in their own land besides thousands of killings, rapes and loot in almost all areas under crusade of the Pak-army and tribesmen”.
It has been 73 years of unlawful occupation of Jammu and Kashmir territory by the state of Pakistan. On October 22, 1947, Pakistani troops aided by tribal mercenaries stormed into the Indian State of Jammu and Kashmir, illegally took over the territory, and have since committed a series of human rights violations on the people of Jammu and Kashmir in Gilgit, Baltistan and the other Punjabi speaking areas of Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, Kotli, Bimbar and Palandri.
Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo who is also a human rights activist added, “the Pak army indulged in mindless Genocide, rapes, arson and looting of Hindus, Sikhs, Christians and even the loyal Muslims of the Mahraja’s forces. It was an orgy of invasion of Pakistan coupled with terrorism, violence and loot as state strategy”.
He further said that it has given us tremendous satisfaction and pleasure to know that the Human Rights activists around the world held peaceful demonstrations and candlelight vigil on October 22 to honor the lives lost. Their call for the immediate withdrawal of Pakistan from the regions occupied by them is a great endeavour on the part of the Global Human Rights Defence, The Netherlands. “We the people of Jammu and Kashmir express our gratitude to all of them”.
It needs a mention that the human rights activists held powerful demonstrations and sit-in protests outside the Pakistan Embassies at various places throughout the globe demanding Pakistan’s withdrawal from Jammu and Kashmir territory. Such protests were held besides at other places in Kuala Lumpur-Malaysia, The Hague & Amsterdam in The Netherlands, Brussels in Belgium, London in the UK and in the US.
It was also resolved to celebrate the commemoration of October 26, 2020 as the Accession Day/Vilay Divas throughout the world.
