Members of six Muslim families embraced Hindu Dharma in Haryana. A total of 35 persons in Dhamtan Shaib village participated in the rituals to revert themselves to Sanatana Dharma, the faith of their ancestors.

The villagers told Amar Ujala that their ancestors were Hindus. They were forced to convert into Islam before some generations due to various regions. However, their lifestyle, rituals and practices had been mostly Hindu. Finally, these families had decided to come back to the Hindu fold.

According to reports, the families had already been following many Hindu traditions and festivals like Holi, Diwali and Navaratra and using Hindus names.

In May this year, as per a report in Times of India, 250 Muslims from 40 families converted to Hinduism in Bidhmira village in Hisar district of Haryana. The families lived at Danoda Kalan village before Independence.
