This is 3rd case of murder of Hindu youth in Assam by Muslims in the last one month. First was the murder of Sanatan Deka, then Rituparna Pegu was murdered by a gang of Muslims and now Saurabh Das.

This is 3rd case of murder of Hindu youth in Assam by Muslims in the last one month. First was the murder of Sanatan Deka, then Rituparna Pegu was murdered by a gang of Muslims and now Saurabh Das.

A Hindu youth Saurabh Das was allegedly murdered in Lejai in Dibrugarh by the family members of a Muslim girl with whom he was in a relationship. Their relationship was objected by the girl’s family and had caused repeated altercations. However, on June 19th, Saurabh Das went missing and after a 2-day search his body was found in the Sesa river near Dibrugarh on 21st. 
 
This is 3rd case of murder of Hindu youth in Assam by Muslims in the last one month. First was the murder of Sanatan Deka over a selling of vegetables during Ramzan, then Rituparna Pegu was murdered by a gang of Muslims over a chair and now Saurabh Das over a relationship with a Muslim girl.
 
Body of Saurabh Das was found in the Sesa river on Sunday. The team of State Disaster Relief Force (SDRF) personnel recovered the body from the river on Sunday morning. Saurabh’s family members have said that this was a pre-planned murder. “Several injuries were noticed on Saurabh’s body. It was a pre-planned murder and we demand stringent punishment for the culprits,” said a family member to a local TV channel.

Tension gripped Lejai in Dibrugarh when Saurabh went missing on Friday and the hand of the girl’s family was suspected. A police complaint was lodged by his family members and a search was launched. After a 2-day search, Saurabh’s body was found in the Sesa river. Tempers raised in the town after the body was fished out by SDRF team on 21st.
 
Based on clues, the local police arrested three persons including Rahimuddin, Bahadur Ali and one other person in connection with the murder. Police have infomred that they are being interrogated to know the involvement of others in the crime.
 
Local people are sure that Saurabh was killed by the girl’s family over the affair. Speaking to a local TV channel, a resident of Lejai said “It is a pre-planned murder. We demand a proper investigation into the incident. We will not remain silent till the culprits get strict punishment.”
 
#JusticeForSaurabhDas was trending on twitter with netizens from across the country demanding thorough investigation and speedy justice for Saurabh Das. Many from Assam have demanded capital punishment for the killers given the brutality displayed in the murder.
