Self-aggrandizement and forced deification of Mamata Banerjee has reached heights in West Bengal. May 8th is the Jayanti of world renowned poet and playwright Rabindranath Tagore. In a utterly insulting move reminiscent of erstwhile Nazi regime of Germany and Communist USSR, instead of commemorating Gurudev’s Jayanti in earnest, the WB govt is busy imposing CM Mamata Banerjee on the people of the state.
West Bengal Police have issued an order to mandatorily play songs written by CM Mamata Banerjee’ at important residential areas and housing complexes of cities & towns in the state on the occasion of Rabindra Jayanti. The order issued by ADG, Law & Order of WB, and addressed to SSPs and CSPs of all districts, states that collection of selected Tagore songs along with a song written by CM of WB on Corona Virus ‘should’ be played at important residential areas and housing complexes of cities and towns between 9AM and 11:30AM on 8th May.
Locket Chatterjee, State President of Mahila Morcha, BJP West Bengal, Member of Parliament from Hooghly, West Bengal tweeted the order and questioned the rationale behind the compulsory move.
While the awareness song has been welcomed, making it to be played mandatorily is what has irked everyone. The order says that during the programme titled ‘KABI PRONAM’ is to be observed to mark the birthday of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore where a small tableau will be brought out with the programme title and a cut-out of Tagore.
People are questioning the rationale behind forcefully including songs written by Mamata Banerjee in a programme to commemorate Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore. While there are songs written on Tagore by numerous Bengali poets, what was the need for the WB government to force people to listen to her songs unless it wants to propitiate Mamata Banerjee.
