New Delhi: “The degradation that we see in environment around us today is because we have abandoned many of our ancient sanskars. Once we used to follow 44 sanskars in our life but today they have been reduced to hardly 15-16 and many people do not know their significance. We need to revive those old traditions and sanskars and also ensure that the Western items should not infiltrate in our traditions and festivals,” said Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Swami Avadheshanand Giri while releasing the environment special issue of ‘Mangal Vimarsh’ on December 7. Veteran BJP leader Dr MM Joshi and noted economist Dr Bajrang Lal Gupt were also present.
Swami Avdheshanand Giri pointed out that in 2004 drinking water on the earth was 2.00 per cent which today remains only .75 per cent. “If we fail to change our habits and take the corrective steps on war footing, we would not survive long,” he said adding that today the biggest problem in the world is not terrorism but uncontrolled consumption.
Dr MM Joshi also stressed that we should change our habits otherwise we should be ready to perish. He said GDP system is based on exploitation. “The resources are limited on the earth. We need sustainable consumption than sustainable development,” he said adding that violence and rapes will stop following moral values and not enacting new laws.
Noted economist Dr Bajrang Lal Gupt stressed on defining the traditions in new context. The fragmented world view cannot help us meeting the modern changes. We need holistic vision, which Bharat has been following since ages. “We should ensure combination of old vision and new challenges to address the challenges like environment emergency,” he said. Three books were also released on the occasion.
Casualisation Harming National Economy

Haridwar: Appreciating the efforts of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh in giving a constructive shape to the country’s labour movement Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Swami Avdheshanand Giri described the BMS work as ‘spiritual task’. He was addressing the BMS office bearers on December 11 at his Ashram in Haridwar.
BMS president Shri CK Saji Narayanan stressed on national debate on the ‘Thengadinomics’ i.e. the alternative Swadeshi model proposed by BMS founder Shri Dattopant Thengadi whose birth centenary is being celebrated this year.
Shri Narayanan further said the sectors which have high concentration of contract labour are in crisis, which has terribly contributed to the deterioration in overall economy. Apparel or textile industry is in deep failure today where fixed-term employment has been implemented in 2016 in the name of ‘saving the industry’. He said industry itself is now being shifted to Bangladesh. So casualisation is not only an issue of workers, it is an issue of the national economy as well, he said. Referring to newly emerging sectors like IT etc he said they are characterised by long working hours. In addition, they have to ‘work from home’ also. “A Godrej Interio survey says ‘996 culture’ is catching up in India. The number 996 refers to working from 9 am to 9 pm in six days a week. It is common among China’s big technology companies and start-ups. It has raised issues of ergonomics even among youths. Increase in working hours will decrease production, as the worker is compelled to work outside productive hours,” he said.
One of the biggest challenges that humanity is going to face are machines replacing human beings. New class conflict will begin between man & Artificial Intelligence. Future of work seems to be challenging for the trade unions.
