With a rise in cases of ‘Love Jihad’ across the country, another similar case has been reported in Bihar. The victim is a minor Hindu girl who was entrapped by the owner of a coaching centre to which she was attending. The shameful case came to light after the parents of the girl filed a missing complaint at the local police station.

Disha (name changed) aged 17 went missing in mid-November. She went out of the house to attend her coaching classes but never returned. As per local news reports, on November 20, the girl left home at around 9:30 am for Sameer Coaching Centre as per her daily schedule. When she did not return by 12:30 pm, her mother went to the Coaching Centre and she was informed that the girl had left the centre with the owner, Mr. Mohammad Jaseem alias Sameer an hour ago. Since then, there has been no trace of the girl.

After searching for her for many days, the parents of the girl filed a missing complaint in the last week of November at the local police station. Much to the shock of the parents, the police found that the girl had filed an affidavit that showed that she had converted to Islam and married Mohammad Jaseem alias Sameer, the owner of the coaching centre almost a year ago. Her conversion and marriage were kept a secret and the parents too were not informed about the same.

No Action despite FIR and Proofs

Although an FIR was registered at the police station at Dumri Block, Begusarai District, Bihar vide FIR No. 612/19 u/s 364 and 366 based on the complaint lodged by the family members of the minor girl, nothing much has been done over it.

Suspecting the case to be one of ‘Love Jihad’ of a minor girl, Legal Rights Protection Forum (LPRF) has now petitioned the DGP of Bihar and SP of Begusarai District and the National Commission for Women and sought their immediate attention into this matter and necessary strict action against the offenders who involved this whole crime.

LPRF in its complaint has said that Disha was forcefully converted to Islam in a mosque in Lakhminia on 28th August, 2019 by changing her name to Nazma Khatoon and then she was forced to marry (nikah) Mr. Mohammad Jaseem. LPRF also alleges that the minor girl was made to file an affidavit by hiding her original age during the process of Religious Conversion and Nikah and the entire matter was kept secret as per a plan.

LPRF says that this is a clear conspiracy of Religious Conversion which is a part of ‘Love Jihad’ – a Secret Project being implemented by Religious Conversion Mafia. Despite the complaint filed by LPRF on Nov 29th, there was no response from the police authorities of Bihar and Begusrai.

LPRF has now approached the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights to take up the matter with the concerned authorities as it involves a minor girl. The Aadhar of the girl which indicates her being a minor has been accessed by LPRF and the same has been made available to the authorities. NCPCR is yet to respond.
