With the vision of making Bharat a leading nation in the field of films promoting integral humanism and thereby re-establishing the supremacy of Bharatiya ethos and philosophy, Bharatiya Chitra Sadhana will be organizing its 3rd edition of Chitra Bharati Film festival (CBFF) from February 21 to 23rd, 2020 at Ahmadabad, Gujarat.
The CBFF Committee has slated 30th November as the last date to receive entries for the film festival. The films have to be under one of the following themes: Bharatiya Culture and Values, Constructive Work, Bharatiya Family, Social Harmony, Folk Arts, Water-Trees-Cleanliness, Women, National Security, Valour, Nationhood and Man Making Education for Nation Building. The films can be short films, documentaries, animated films and campus films too.
The CBFF organizing committee has said that such films have a strong capacity to help Bharat to regain its lost glory and become an effective support system for rejuvenating the Bharatiya society. To achieve this Bharatiya Chitra Sadhana encourages films that promotes progressiveness of Indian society with timeless philosophy, Bhartiya values & modern evolvements reflected in the above themes. To facilitate & promote such films and film-makers, since 2016 it is organizing Chitra Bharati Film Festival at different cities of India.
In the continuation of same legacy & the zeal to promote the rich Bharatiya culture the upcoming Chitra Bharati Film festival is scheduled to be organized and celebrated at Ahmadabad from 21-22-23 February 2020. The stated objectives of CBFF are as follows:
– To encourage film makers with commitment to Bharatiya values.
– To maximize efforts to promote Bharatiyata in films in Bharat and abroad.
– To organize competitive film festivals at local, national and international levels.
– To identify and train young women and men with an aptitude of audio video productions and train them in various arts, crafts and techniques of film making.
– To create a corpus to provide finance to films promoting Bharatiyata.
– To create awareness amongst the masses to appreciate good films.
CBFF 2020 Outreach
Several Film Societies are affiliated to the CBFF 2020. HIMCINE SOCIETY of Himachal Pradesh, PARAMPARA (Citra Bharti) of Kolkata, CINEMA WORKSHOP of Madhya Pradesh and CHALCHITRA SOCIETY of Meerut are associated with CBFF 2020.
In the run-up to the Feb 2020 event, film appreciation workshops are being conducted in several parts of the country. A similar film appreciation workshop was conducted on 25th November at Rohtak. A short film fest was conducted in Ujjain where many film makers showcased their short films on the themes of CBFF. Another short film fest was conducted in Gwalior on 24th November where short films and documentaries were screened at the Rashtrothan Nyas Bhavan.
CBFF has set-up a stall at the ongoing International Film Festival in Goa. The stall of Bharatiya Chitra Sadhana highlights the purpose and vision of CBFF. Prominent films from the past editions are also on display at the stall.
In July, the poster of the Chitra Bharati film festival was released by noted film director and producer Shri Subhash Ghai along with the secretary of Bharatiya Chitra Sadhna and chairman of Reception Committee Shri Ajit Bhai. They also launched the website of the festival.
Earlier editions of CBFF
CBFF 2016 – The first Chitra Bharati Film Festival was organized in Indore (Madhya Pradesh) from 26th to 28th February, 2016 at Takshashila Campus of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore. It had received 309 entries from 8 states of India. The entries comprised of Short Films, Documentary Films, Animation Films & Campus Films from both mature & amateur participants.
The then Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan had inaugurated the Festival on 26th Feb. Film personalities like Madhur Bhandarkar, Rahul Rawail, Vivek Agnihotri, Manoj Joshi, Mukesh Tiwari, Sudipto Sen etc. were the guests of honour. They had also participated in the “Open Forum” held in the afternoon every day along with the budding young directors. The large enthusiastic crowed kept the auditoriums and the forums bustling with energy.
‘El Beso’ directed by Mahesh Periyadan won the first prize in Short film category. ‘Changing’ by Mahesh Mishra won first prize in the Documentary films category. ‘The Shiner’ by Ashok Patel won first prize in the Animation category and ‘Aks’ by Vijay Kumar won the 1st prize in the Campus Films category.
CBFF 2018 – The Second Chitra Bharati Film Festival was organized in Delhi from 19th to 21st February, 2018 at Siri Fort Auditorium, New Delhi. This was a big jump from the earlier one in scale as well as the outreach. It had received 703 entries from 15 states of India. The entries comprised of Short Films, Documentary Films, Animation Films & Campus Films from both mature & amateur participants, Mass Com students & Film Institute students.
The Festival was inaugurated by the then Cabinet Minister for the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani. The Chief Minister of Hariyana Shri Manohar Lal Khattar and eminent film personalities like Hema Malini, Arjun Rampal, Priyadarshan, Madhur Bhandarkar, Raj Dutt, Manju Borah, Sudipto Sen etc. were the guests of honour.
There were 4 Master Classes organized during the festival on different subjects by expert film personalities which were very well received by the young crowed. Those were 1. On Acting – by Manoj Tiwari, 2. On Direction – by Madhur Bhandarkar, 3. On Film Making – by Subhash Ghai and 4. On Script Writing – by K V Vijayendra Prasad (Bahubali fame).
The Closing Ceremony & Award Night was presided over by the Chairman of Indian Film Sensor Board Shri Prasoon Joshi. The then Union Minister of State for Urban Development, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Shri Babul Supriyo and Film personalities like Subhash Ghai, Victor Benerjee, K. V. Vijayendra Prasad, Manoj Tiwari, U Krishnam Raju, Rebecca Changkija Sema etc were the guests of honour.
‘Anahut’ was judged the Best film in Short Film category. ‘I am Jeeja’ was declared the best Documentary film. ‘Chav’ won the best film under Campus films category. ‘Soldiers our Super heroes’ won the first prize in the Animation category.
CBFF 2020 – Committee and Trustees
The organising committee consists of the members of Bharatiya Chitra Sadhana.
