CPM leader and former Kannur district secretary P Jayarajan has endorsed CPM Kozhikode district secretary P Mohanan who said Islamic terrorists are behind the Maoists in Kerala. Jayarajan said that there are pieces of evidence to substantiate the statement of P Mohanan. “An employee who worked with the Popular Front of India mouthpiece Thejas newspaper, was a connecting link in between Maoists and Islamists,” Jayarajan revealed in a Facebook post.

Meanwhile, P Mohanan said that he is sticking on to his statement, asserting that the Islamic terrorists are the sponsors of Maoist activities in the state.

Speaking to Media, Mohanan made it clear that Islamic terrorism exists and the nexus between Islamic terrorists and Maoists is also a reality. If the ISIS is the face of Islamic terrorism at the international level, in our country, especially in Kerala, it is the Popular Front of India. He explicitly mentioned the name of the radical Islamic outfit Popular Front of India and termed it a terrorist organisation.

A section of CPM-DYFI leaders has come forward, backing the statement of Mohanan.

In a TV channel debate on Tuesday, P Jayarajan termed Jamaat-e-Islami and the Popular Front of India the Islamic terrorist organisations. In his Facebook post, P Jayarajan said that there is evidence to substantiate the role of Popular Front in recruiting terrorists to the ISIS from various districts of Kerala.

On Tuesday, in a public meeting, Mohanan said that the “of Islamic extremists offer support to Maoists and the police must launch an enquiry into it.” He also said that former Naxal leaders are now active members in the NDF and Popular Front. “These outfits are responsible for the Pantheerankavu incident where two youngsters (CPM workers) were arrested for their pro-Maoist campaigning,” he said. He also questioned the Muslim League’s justification of the NDF (presently the Popular Front of India).
