The Deepostav event at Ayodhya which was started by the Yogi Adityanath government in UP three years ago had caught the attention of the world for its grandeur and unparalleled arrangements of diyas and lamps. The Deepostav has become an international event and to accord the importance due to it, the UP government has made it a state government affair.
For the last two years, Deepotsav was organised and funded by the state tourism department. With this decision, Deepostav will now be directly funded by the state government. The decision to this was taken in a state cabinet meeting here on Tuesday.
Briefing the media, state government spokesperson Srikant Sharma said that from this year, the Deepostav function would be a state government affair when it was organised by the state tourism department in the past two years. “The government has sanctioned Rs 133 crore for his year’s Deepostav programme where over 5.51 lakh diyas would be lightened on October 26,” he said. With turning the Deepostav programme a state sponsored programme, the Chief Minister has also announced that all the money spent in the event would be thoroughly audited as per the norms.
Meanwhile, UP government has made elaborate arrangements for the Deepostav this time when Yogi Adityanath would grace the occasion on October 26. Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Fiji is likely to be the chief guest on the occasion.
World Record set by Deepostav
The Grand Deepavali celebrations at Ayodhya last year also saw a world record set by the Deepostav event. The event which was organised on the banks of the river Sarayu, saw a record lighting over 3 lakh earthen lamps or diyas.
The historic city of Ayodhya was renamed as Faizabad during the Mughal rule. This anomaly was set right by the Adityanath government and original name was restored. CM Yogi Adityanath had said that his government will make all efforts to develop Ayodhya as also take effective steps to accord the importance it deserves.
