Bhubaneswar, Oct 16: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s Sah Sarkaryavah Dr Manmohan Vaidya Ji addressed a press conference today where he said that due to the hard work and continuous efforts of the swayamsevaks and the increasing acceptance in the society, the work of the Sangh is continuously expanding. It is to be noted that it is the youth and students who are especially joining the Sangh. Dr. Manmohan Vaidya was addressing a press conference after the 3-day Karyakari Mandal Bhaitak of the RSS was inaugurated at the Shiksha and Anusandhan University here.
In response to a question, Dr. Vaidya said that the issue of construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya is not a political issue but a matter of faith of the country. Similarly, on the question of removing Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, he said that the Article itself was supposed to be a temporary provision in the Constitution and has rightly been amended he said. In response to another question over the recent murders in West Bengal, he said that it is very unfortuante and concerning that those with nationalistic fervor were being killed in the state.
He further said that the Sangh believes that the government cannot do everything and the society itself has to come forward and do its duty. In this spirit, the Swayamsevaks of the Sangh are actively involved in the task of social change. The results of the village development programs that Sangh initiated in 1998 are being seen today in many villages. He said that the RSS Swayamsevaks are working towards a caste-discrimination free society and to awaken the sense of social harmony and oneness in the whole society. The swayamsevaks of the Sangh are also working for the promotion of cattle of Indian breeds. He said that due to increase in the prevalence of individual families in the society, there is erosion of Bharatiya values in such families. It is for this reason, Swayamsevaks are invovled in the task of inculcating Bharatiya values in families through ‘Kutumb Prabhodan’. He said that in order to protect the environment, the Swayamsevaks of the Sangh are engaged in the work of bringing awareness about the three P’s i.e. Planting trees, less use of Pani (Water) and not using Plastic.
Increase in Sangh work and reach
Dr. Vaidya informed that at present there are 57, 411 daily Shakhas and 18923 weekly Milans in the entire country. In the year 2009 a plan was made to expand Sangh’s work. Due to this, Shakhas have been continuously expanding since 2010. Since then there has been a total increase of 19,584 Shakhas. Between 2010 and 2014 there was an increase of about 6,000 Shakhas. He further informed that Sangh’s work is present in 6000 ‘Prakhands’ which is nearly 90% percent of the ‘Prakhands’ in the country. He said that out of the Shakhas running across the country, 60 percent of them have youth and students. The percentage of Shakhas where Swayamsevaks are between the age group of 20 to 40 years is 29%. The number of Shakhas where Swayamsevaks are above the age of 40 years is 11%, he said.
Sah Sarkaryavah informed that a initiative was started in 2013 to enable people to join the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh through its website. Consequently, a large number of people have been requesting to join it thorugh this online feature. Most of those tho request are youth and students. In the year 2013 itself, 88,843 requests were received to join the Sangh through the online portal. From 2014 to 2016, on an average 90 to 95 thousand people have requested to join the Sangh. Likewise, 1.25 lakh in 2017, 1.05 lakh in 2018 and 1.03 lakh till September in 2019 have requsted to join the Sangh through the online portal.
Future Projects
Dr. Vaidya said that emphasis is also being laid on training of Swayamsevaks. In this direction, camps are being organised regularly to train them. The 3-day bhaitak in Bhubaneshwar will also delierate on way to improve the training imparted to the Swayamsevaks and any value addition that can be made to them.
He said that all Prant level office bearers from all the Prants in the country are attending the 3-day meet of the Akhil Bharatiya Karyakari Mandal. About 350 delegates are attending the three-day meeting. The Akhil Bhartiya Prachar Pramukh Shri Arun Kumar and Sah Prachar Pramukh Shri Narendra Thakur were also present at the Press meet.
Earlier, the meeting of Akhil Bharatiya Karyakari Mandal of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh was inaugurated in Bhubaneswar. The meet was inauguration by Sarsanghchalak Dr. Mohan Bhagwat Ji and Ma. Sarkaryavah Bhagyaji Joshi by lighting of the lamp. The three-day meeting that started on 16 October will go on till 18 October 2019.
