New Delhi: Two-time MP from East Delhi and a fire brand orator BL Sharma Prem breathed his last on September 28. He was 90. He is survived by his wife and two daughters. He was cremated at Nigam Bodh Ghat the next day. His mortal remains were kept at VHP headquarters where hundreds of karyakartas paid tribute.
Veteran Sangh Pracharak Shri Premchand Goel, Prant Sanghachalak Shri Kulbhushan Ahuja, VHP working president Shri Alok Kumar, member of central management committee Shri Dinesh Chandra, Delhi Prant president Shri Kapil Khanna, working president Shri Vagish Issar, BJP state president Manoj Tiwari and many other eminent persons paid their tribute.
BL Sharma Prem was elected as BJP MP from East Delhi in a row in 1991 and 1996. Later, he resigned from active politics and got re-associated with the VHP. He served as central secretary of VHP.
Paying tribute, VHP vice president Shri Champat Rai said BL Sharma Prem dedicated his life to the nation. He worked for the nation without expecting anything in exchange. He was born at Sialkot (now in Pakistan) on December 17, 1929. He was a Sangh swayamsevak since his childhood. He was 18 when he, along with his family, shifted to Bharat following Partition. He served the Indian Army and also got his son join the Merchant Navy. But his son lost his life for the nation in the Navy. He was general secretary of VHP Delhi for a long time. He had very close contact with VHP veteran Shri Ashok Singhal. He was an accused in the demolition of the dispute structure in Ayodhya case also. He was founder of Akhand Hindusthan Morcha and edited a monthly newspaper, ‘Akhand Bahrat’.
