New Delhi, Sept 19: For this year’s Best FIFA Men’s Player award the battle will again be between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi with the addition of Liverpool’s star defender Virgil Van Dijk. On the other hand, in the women’s category world cup winners Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe of USA, accompanied by Lucy Bronze of England. Brazil dominates the nominations in the men’s goalkeeper category with Alisson and Ederson ending the year on a high. Germany No. 2 Marc-Andre Ter Stegen with the La Liga title to his name for Barcelona makes up the trio competing for the award.
 
The Best – FIFA Football Awards 2019 – 2020, the premier awards for recognition of footballing excellence in the world comes to the Indian audience LIVE, as Gurgaon based Lex Sportel Vision, today announced the acquisition of the rights for the Indian subcontinent. This will be Lex Sportel’s second association with a FIFA event after broadcasting the Round 2 draw for Asian qualifiers to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 preliminary competition.
 
The Best FIFA Football Awards which constituted in the year 2016, is aimed at reviving the FIFA World Player of the Year, which was merged with France Football’s Ballon d’Or in 2010 to become the FIFA Ballon d’Or in a six-year partnership. The first awarding ceremony was held on January 9, 2017 at Zurich, Switzerland. The 2018 edition was held in London. The 2019 edition of the annual awards ceremony is going to be held at La Scala, Milan, Italy on 24 September.
 
Commenting on the acquisition, R.C. Venkateish, MD and CEO, Lex Sportel said, “We are really happy to partner with FIFA to enable the broadcast of the greatest award ceremony in football. This is a small yet a very important step continuing our association with FIFA which commenced with the broadcast of the Asian Qualifiers Draw.”

The nominations for Best FIFA Women’s Coach are as follows:
 
1. Jill Ellis – USA National Team
2. Phil Neville – England National Team
3. Sarina Wiegman – Netherlands National Team
 
The nominations for Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper are as follows:
 
1. Alisson – Liverpool
2. Ederson – Manchester City
3. Marc-Andre Ter Stegen – Barcelona
