
Sri BV Sridharswamy and Dr Jitendra Kumar inaugurating the library in Bengaluru
Bengaluru: A library was inaugurated at Electronic City Phase II on August 15 by RSS Kshetra Bauddhik Pramukh Sri Sridharswamy and Dr Jitendra Kumar of Bio Innovation. The unit was set up by Rashtriya Books Circulating Library Trust. The model unit will be providing access to books from 16 different languages from publications across the country with a capacity to hold as many as 10,000 books. The library is completely web integrated.
The event was organised by RBCL Trust. The concept of RBCL was envisaged by RSS IT Milan. The Trust has a plan to establish many such circulating libraries in the days to come across the city and the country to encourage reading and develop the quest for knowledge. The libraries are self-sustaining and are managed by the volunteers.
Sri Sridharswamy, who is Vice Principal at National College, Basavanagudi, described the initiative as a big adventure in the direction of nation-building. He stressed the need for building awareness about the nation in young minds. Dr Jitendra Kumar, who presided over the function, discussed the influence of electronic gadgets in the day to day life and a steady decline in the habit of reading physical books.
The Nagar Karyavah of IT Milan Sri Kartheek said the library would become a platform for various intellectual activities in the future. He also informed the audience about a series of discourses on Indian way of economics planned in November this year on the premise. It was the second library unit set up by RBCL Trust and was the first full-fledged multilingual library unit set up in the city. The first unit has been set up near IISC. It was inaugurated by RSS Kshetra Sanghachalak Shri V Nagaraj.
