65th Foundation Day of BMS

New Delhi: The 65th foundation of the country’s largest labour organisation, the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) was observed on July 23 across the country. There are reports of organising over 4000 functions across the country—right from Andaman Nicobar Islands to Sikkim and Lakshadweep. Over 400 functions were organised in Delhi alone by different organisations affiliated to the BMS.

According to BMS north-zone organising secretary Shri Pawan Kumar, BMS national president Shri CK Sajinarayanan addressed the functions in Kerala, national organising secretary Shri B Surendran was in Telangana, BMS national general secretary Shri Virjesh Upadhyaya and Shri Pawan Kumar addressed the functions in Delhi. Former organising secretary Shri KC Mishra was in Odisha. Other senior BMS leaders who addressed the functions in various states included Shri HJ Pandya in Gujarat, Shri Rajbihari Sharma in Rajasthan, Shri Sunil Kirwai in Assam, Shri Suresh Sinha in Bihar and Shri Jayantilal in Madhya Pradesh.

On this occasion, different activities were organised at different places. The workers in the Andamans & Nicobar Islands organised a blood donation camp. The postal workers in Delhi organised the recitation of ‘Sunder Kaand’. At all the places the workers hoisted the BMS flag, distributed sweets, organised demonstrations, rallies and meetings. At all the functions, the BMS founder Shri Dattopant Thengadi was particularly remembered. Also, Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Chandrasekhar Azad were remembered because July 23 is also the birth anniversary of these freedom fighters. Following the slogan of Bal Gangadhar Tilak that “Freedom is my Birth Right and I shall have it”, the BMS says “Economic freedom is our birth right and we shall have it”.
