Selective Narration of History Caused More Harm in J&K

New Delhi: Union Minister of State in PMO Dr Jitendra Singh said the selective narration of history has caused more harm to Jammu & Kashmir and the time has come to change the wrong narratives that have selectively been built by the vested interests to suit their agenda and game plans. He was speaking at a book release function organised by Manohar Publishers and Distributors in association with the Nehru Memorial Museum & Library.
The book, “Be Clear, Kashmir will Vote for India: Jammu & Kashmir 1947-1953—Reporting the Contemporary Understanding of the Unreported” has been authored by Shri Raghuvendra Tanwar who is Emeritus Professor of Modern History at Kurukshetra University. The function was presided over by Chairman of ICHR Prof Arvind Jamkhedkar. Veteran journalist Shri Jawaharlal Kaul and Director-General of Nehru Memorial Museum & Library Shri Shakti Sinha were also present.

Dr Jitendra Singh said instead of being trapped in wrong narratives created by vested interests in J&K, there is a need to engage them in the debates that they have selectively been raising including Article 370, 35A, Azadi, etc. “Terrorism has become an industry in the Valley. But the day is not far when the political dynasty will become history. We need to look at Kashmir not through the prism of 1947 but through the prism of 2019, as the situation has now changed substantially. Today, we see highly aspirational youth in the state who are excelling in various fields. Our ultimate investment should be for this new generation,” Dr Jitendra Singh added.

Prof Arvind Jamkhedkar applauded the efforts made by Shri Tanwar for preparing the book. Shri Jawahar Lal Kaul said the Kashmiris today are not afraid of the outsiders, but the insiders and their friends, acquaintances. Shri Shakti Sinha spoke about the ancient methods of history compilation in Bharat.
