CBMs for Minorities
Apropos (Confidence Building has to be Mutual) Organiser, June 23, 2019 it is heartening to note that some Muslim leaders have written an open letter appreciating Shri Narendra Modi’s initiatives with some caveat—show some more Confidence Building Measures (CBMs). It has been a fallacy that Modi has been lagging behind in ‘reaching out’ to the minorities—an argument cleverly manipulated by the fake and paid media and the leftists’ cabals. If we carefully look at any of the social schemes in the past five years during Modi’s tenure, from PMJAY to Ujjwala scheme, none of the scheme is discriminatory against any community or way of worship, which goes to prove beyond doubt that the unprecedented mandate given to Modi is enough to prove that fallacy wrong! The fact of the matter is that you can’t fool all the people all the time. And the people’s decisive mandate has proved it right beyond any iota of doubt.

Reviving the Yogic Science
APROPOS (Yoga as a Science of Consciousness), Organiser, June 23, 2019, David Frawley has rightly argued to make sincere efforts to ensure that yoga gets the central place in education, research and spiritual aspiration. Only through such a higher awareness, we can transcend our individual and cultural limitations that are the basis of all conflicts and misunderstandings. Most people opposed yoga only until they did not experience its benefits. The day they experience the benefits they start advocating it publicly. Yoga is the solution to many of our ailments today and it should be followed in daily life without any bias.

Illgocial opposition to simultaneous polls
It refers to PM Modis’ all-party meeting on June 19 to discuss the much-needed aspect of simultaneous elections to Lok Sabha and all state-assemblies. There is absolutely no logic in opposing the idea which will not only save huge money for public-exchequer and political parties but also will avoid interruption in routine work due to frequently applied conduct-codes and diversion of public-attention from normal work. It is significant that such simultaneous elections were there till the year 1967 without any opposition. But the big question is how simultaneous elections once started can be made permanent in case of hung assemblies and unstable governments. This can be well avoided by holding simultaneous elections of Chief Minister (or Prime Minister), Speaker and Deputy Speaker by secret and compulsory elections through EVMs equipped with VVPAT on nominations signed by at least 34-per cent members with abstaining members losing the right to vote in the House though retaining its membership. Such elected incumbents may be removed only through the same process but with the compulsion to name alternate leader through the same motion.SUBHASH CHANDRA AGRAWAL, Delhi

Renee Lynn has rightly diagnosed the problem with most educated Indians who neglect their time-tested form of exercise and blindly go for a typical Western type of exercise like weight lifting or cardio. At the time when Westerners are opting for yoga, it is ridiculous to see the Indians going mad after gyms in the cities. Yoga is the antidote to our tumultuous life. The ancient teachings and wisdom of Hinduism and yoga are life-changing and transforming. We should practise yoga to rediscover ourselves. Yoga is just one of India’s many gifts and contributions to the world.

The Divine Message
APROPOS (India’s Message to the World), Organiser, June 23, 2019 since that seminal address by Swami Vivekananda’s at the Parliament of Religions in 1893 in Chicago, it has been nothing short of historic considering that his awe-inspiring speech continues to inspire and guide us and the world even today. As Swamiji rightly put it, “This is the punya bhoomi, the land of Karma,” he declared, “There is not one race on this earth to which the world owes so much as to the patient Hindu.” As we all know, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is an ardent and true follower of Swami Vivekananda whose life heavily influenced and shaped Shri Modi’s spiritual life. Let us hope Bharat will continue to be guided and ruled by such great spiritual masters and his true followers.
