‘It is total anarchy! TMC Government has unleashed a reign of terror in West Bengal’: BJP leader Mukul Roy requests Home Minister Amit Shah to save people of Bengal

Trinamool goons, at the behest of the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, have been indulging in targeted attacks against the BJP workers in the state, resulting in many deaths and injuries

West Bengal BJP leader Mukul Roy has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, stating that there has been a “complete breakdown” of the state machinery in the state. Post-poll violence in the state has escalated with both BJP and TMC accusing the other of stoking political unrest. Mukul Roy’s letter was in response to the letter submitted by the Trinamool Congress to the Home Ministry. Mukul Roy stated that “there is complete anarchy and chaos throughout the state of West Bengal”.

He said that political violence in the state was carried out by TMC workers at the behest of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. “All the incidents of violence throughout the state have been carried out by cadres of Trinamool Congress with the active help and support of the administration at the direct insistence of TMC supremo the Hon’ble Chief Minister of the State Mamata Banerjee,” Mukul Roy wrote in his letter to Amit Shah.

In his letter, Mukul Roy wrote, “There has been a complete breakdown of state machinery and if steps are not taken urgently to contain the situation, the same will go out of hands.”

Post-poll violence has been reported from various places of West Bengal after the BJP made a giant leap in the Lok Sabha elections, securing 18 of the 42 Lok Sabha seats in the state. TMC goons have been unleashing a brutal attack on BJP workers in several districts, including North 24 Parganas, Coochbehar, Howrah and West Burdwan, resulting in many deaths and injuries. At least 15 BJP workers were brutally killed in various Trinamool attacks after the Lok Sabha election results were declared. In the last days, four BJP workers have been killed in the state. Four workers of the BJP were shot dead by members of the TMC in Basirhat’s Sandeshkhali four days ago, allegedly for chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’. Mukul Roy had also demanded the resignation of the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee after she has failed to maintain law and order in the state.

The Union Government, on Sunday, had expressed its “deep concern” over continuing violence in West Bengal, saying the “unabated violence” even after the Lok Sabha polls appeared to be a failure on part of the state government. In an advisory to the state government, the Ministry of Home Affairs also asked it to maintain law and order, peace and public tranquillity.

Objecting the advisory, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee alleged in a reply that the violence was a “planted game…The central government and (BJP) party cadre are trying to incite violence in West Bengal.” The Trinamool Congress also wrote a letter to Shah objecting to the advisory and termed it a “deep-rooted conspiracy” and an “evil ploy to grab power” in opposition-ruled states.

However, Mukul Roy termed the TMC allegations “baseless” and wondered whether the same logic would apply in Bengal as the chief minister, home minister and ruling party chief are the same person.

The BJP observed a “Black Day” in West Bengal and a 12-hour shutdown in North 24 Parganas district’s Basirhat subdivision on Monday after the brutal killings of its workers. The law and order situation has been deteriorating in the state since the Lok Sabha elections were declared. With post-poll violence against BJP marring the state’s post-poll scenario, the law and order situation has totally crumbled.
