The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced unconditional support to all candidates of the CPM-led-Left Democratic Front in Kerala in the Lok Sabha elections, party leader Somnath Bharti said.
Thanking the AAP for the support, CPM leader Nilotpal Basu said, “Our main aim is to remove the NDA and stop communal tension and polarisation done by them and in this direction, we are campaigning in different states. We thank the AAP for supporting us.” Both the leaders were addressing media in a joint press conference in New Delhi today.
Meanwhile, the AAP suspended its Kerala convener C R Neelakandan for extending the party’s support to the Congress in the state. The AAP central leadership took action against Neelakandan as he singlehandedly decided to support the Congress without consulting with the party’s political affairs committee. Neelakandan announced his stand in a press conference held in Kerala.
“That press conference was unauthorised and conducted without the knowledge or consultation of the Aam Aadmi Party. The AAP’s political affairs committee has condemned his move and decided to suspend Neelakandan from the primary membership of the party,” Somnath Bharti said.
The CPM and the Left front are facing a tough fight from BJP in Kerala this election after the anti-Hindu stand it took in the Sabarimala issue.
