DMK caught red-handed with money in its godown

The IT department has raided the house and godown belonging to the close aides of DMK treasurer Dorai Murugan in Chennai and other places. Bags filled with currency notes worth crores have been unearthed at these locations by the IT sleuths.

Huge bags filled with new currency notes were found at a godown near Vellore which belonged to the workers of the DMK. These raids have unearthed currency notes worth 11.5 crores, the IT officials have said. The investigation and raids will continue they say. It can be recalled that very recently the IT officials had raided the house and offices of Dorai Murugan’s son Kateer Anand. Based on the leads that was secured in this raid, the IT officials continued their investigation at other places in Tamil Nadu. The raids conducted on Monday were due to the information gathered by the earlier raids, say IT officials.

Money was transferred to the godown from one of the educational institutions belonging to Murugan. It is alleged that a close aide of Murugan has been involved in the hoarding of money. Consequently to the raids, the officials from the Election Commission have begun their investigation into the source and purpose of hoarding such large sums of money. As expected, the DMK has denied these allegations and in a hurriedly called press conference the spokesperson of the DMK said that these raids were politically motivated prior to elections. He however failed to provide any answers to the source of money and allegations against DMK’s treasurer Dorai Murugan and his son.

Local media has reported that the currency notes found during the raids were separated and packed as per individual wards. It is evident that the purpose of such segregation of money was for distributing it among the voters. Information regarding the ward and other related information was inserted into the packets, say local media reports.
