A CPM worker throwing stone at the Sabarimala Karma Samiti workers with the connivance of Police at Trivandrum
Shri George Kurian, Vice Chairman, National Commission for Minorities, has written to Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh highlighting the worsening communal situation in Kerala. Acting on a memorandum submitted to the Vice Chairman by noted film Director Ali Akbar who listed out a series of incidents including the recent attack on Perambra Town Juma Masjid by a local CPM leader to create communal violence during a hartal declared by Sabarimala Karma Samiti, Shri George Kurian drew the attention of the Hon’ble Union Home Minister to the volatile situation in Kerala in the wake of the Sabarimala controversy. Shri Kurian also requested the Hon’ble Home Minister to “keep a close watch on the situation” as ‘Kerala is sitting on a communal tinderbox’. Shri Kurian in his letter, stated that the three pillars of democracy should take into account the prevailing situation in the State and exercise extreme caution while taking decisions, as even a minor issue can have knock-on consequences on the minority communities. The current turmoil in Kerala is the result of a decision by one of the pillars.
Shri Ali Akbar, in his memorandum to the NCM Vice Chairman, has stated that there has been a deliberate attempt to trigger communal riots by CPM cadre by attacking places of worship of minorities and killing rival politicians belonging to Muslim community and pass it off as the handiwork of the RSS/BJP cadre. In the murder of NDF activist Muhammad Fasal, same modus operandi was sought to be created by the accused. “To give an impression that RSS workers were behind the murder, the accused placed a blood-stained kerchief near the house of an RSS worker”. The CBI probe in this case named CPM leaders Karayi Rajan and Karayi Chandrasekharan as culprits.
Shri Ali Akbar pointed out that in the CPI (M) rebel leader T.P. Chandrasekharan murder case, the accused CPM activists used an Innova Car with a “Masha Allah” sticker on it to mislead the police that the accused were Muslim extremists.
