In a brazen display of arrogance, Superintendent of Police P Yatish Chandra got into an argument with the Union Minister Shri Pon Radhakrishnan and blatantly defied his orders when he visited Sabarimala today
Protest mounts against Superintendent of Police P Yatish Chandra for misbehaving with the Union Minister of State for Finance & Shipping Shri Pon Radhakrishnan in Sabarimala this morning. Yatish behaved arrogantly with the Union Minister, got into an argument with him and defied his orders by raising counter-questions. The minister was enquiring about the restrictions imposed on private vehicles en route Pampa.
Snubbing the concern raised by the minister, Yatish blatantly told him that it would cause a traffic jam if the private vehicles are allowed. In a brazen display of arrogance, Yatish asked Shri Pon Radhakrishnan that, whether the Union Minister is willing to take the responsibility.
Refuting the minister’s demand to revoke the restriction, Yatish informed him that only minister’s vehicles would be allowed to go to Pampa. Pon Radhakrishnan said that he didn’t want any such privilege and he would choose to travel in the state-owned KSRTC bus like other devotees. And the minister reached Pampa by bus. The minister also made it clear that he is not answerable and it is up to the state government, whether to own the responsibility or not. Shri Pon Radhakrishnan took up the issue with the police officer after he received several complaints regarding the restrictions.
Meanwhile, BJP State General Secretary A N Radhakrishnan intervened and said, “It’s not improper to behave and argue with a Union Minister like this. The officer is not doing his duty, instead, asking the minister to own the responsibility.” Shri AN Radhakrishnan reminded the cop that he was speaking to a Union Minister, and talk in a proper manner. “It’s not proper to misbehave and argue with a Union Minister. The officer is not doing his duty and, instead, asking the minister to own the responsibility,” A N Radhakrishnan lashed out at the arrogant cop.
When Yatish replied that he would ‘try’ to make way for private vehicles, the minister asserted, “Don’t try then, it must be implemented”. Shri Pon Radhakrishnan reminded Yatish Chandra that Sabarimala does not belong to the Government or any officials but belongs to devotees. The same officer, who behaved arrogantly with the union minister and Hindu leaders, found begging to the Congress leaders with folded hands when they visited Sabarimala yesterday and violated the prohibitory order. Even though he detained several devotees and Hindu leaders for allegedly violating the CrPC 144, he did not dare to arrest the Congress leaders last day when they openly declared that they violated the prohibitory order. The BJp leaders alleged that the incident showed his double standards and uncompromising loyalty towards CPM and Congress leaders. BJP State General Secretary Shri AN Radhakrishnan added that the party would complain to the Union Home Ministry and demand stringent action against the arrogant cop who insulted the Union Minister.
