New Delhi: Senior saints appealed to the President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind to ask his Government to proceed for clearing the way by legislation for the reconstruction of a grand Shri Ram Temple at His birth place in Ayodhya. “This appears to be the only appropriate solution in the present circumstances,” the saints said in a memorandum submitted to the President on October 5.

The saints, who called on the President of India under the banner of Sant Uchchadhikar Samiti, said it is well known that the Hindu society has been continuously struggling for the construction of Shri Ram Temple at His birth place in Ayodhya since 1528. The construction of the Temple is a matter of restoration of the National Honour. Several efforts were made for the rconstruction of the Temple by an amicable and negotiated settlement. However, this could not happen. This matter is also pending in the court of law since 1950. The opponents have used every trick to delay the judicial decision. The matter is now fixed in the Hon’ble Supreme Court for hearing on October 29, 2018. There is no certainty on whether this matter would be heard and decided in the near future.
The saints who called on the President included Jagadguru Ramanandacharya Swami Hansadevacharya (Haridwar), Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Swami Vishokananda Bharati (Haridwar), Mahamandaleshwar Yugpurush Swami Paramananda (Haridwar), Mahamandaleshwar Swami Vishweshwarananda, (Mumbai), Agradevacharya Sri Raghavacharya (Rajasthan), Swami Chinmayananda Saraswati (Haridwar), Swami Rameshwardas Srivaishnav (Rishikesh), Swami Paramatmanand (Rajkot), Shri Alok Kumar, working president of VHP and others.
Prior to meeting the President of India the meeting of VHP’s Uchchadhikar Samiti was held under the chairmanship of Pujya Mahant Nritya Gopal Das. At this meeting also the saints demanded enactment of a law for rebuilding Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The meeting decided that the delegations of Rambhaktas would meet the Governors of different states in October and would present them memorandums seeking enactment of a law for building of the temple. In November, they would organise public meetings in various Parliamentary constituencies. A delegation of saints would also meet the Prime Minister to apprise him of the feelings of the crores of Rambhaktas.
