Feeling of Kinship with Society is Dharma

To work for the society and ensure that it does not break apart is dharma. The manner in which a father treats a son and a son treats the father is dharma. When someone gets elected to high office the question of raj dharma comes up. So what is it? It is not a business? said RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat on August 24.

Mumbai: To work for the society and ensure that it does not break apart is dharma. The manner in which a father treats a son and a son treats the father is dharma. When someone gets elected to high office the question of raj dharma comes up. So what is it? It is not a business” said RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat on August 24. He was speaking at a function organised to celebrate the birth centenary of veteran RSS pracharak Nana Palkar and the golden jubilee of Nana Palkar Smriti Samiti. Noted industrialist and former chairman of Tata Sons Shri Ratan Tata also shared the dais. The function was held at Yashwant Natya Mandir.

Shri Bhagwat further said there is lot of talk about people willing to work for the society. Whoever wants to work, does work. Whoever feels kinship with the rest of the society will work for it. “When we get to the high office, we should realise what we’re doing is not a business. It is a service we’re doing, a service that would take the society ahead. We shouldn’t do this service expecting anything in return, we may get something in return but that’s a different thing,” he added.

He said Nana Palkar is an inspiration for those who want to do something good for the society. Today we have lot of resources, but he started the work at the time when arranging resources was indeed a gigantic task. If the people assembled here also emulate Nana and start any social activity the holding of this event will prove to be meaningful. The Nana Palkar Smriti Samiti has been serving the patients for the last 50 years. “The Samiti is doing wonderful work and we all should join hands with it,” Shri Bhagwat added. A documentary on the late Nana Palkar and Nana Palkar Smriti Samiti was also screened. Then a book, Saga of Israel, written originally in marathi by Shri Nana Palkar was released. An oil painting of Nana Palkar was also inaugurated.
