Former Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) alleges that he was asked by Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, the then home minister and the current CPM state secretary, to stop the inquiry into the Fasal murder case when it was about to reach the CPM apparatus

Former Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) alleges that he was asked by Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, the then home minister and the current CPM state secretary, to stop the inquiry into the Fasal murder case when it was about to reach the CPM apparatus. Fasal, a former CPM man had joined Islamic extremist group NDF; it was reported that he had also joined INTUC union as he was a newspaper distributor. CPM tried its level best to make RSS responsible for the murder.

K. Radhakrishnan, the officer-in-charge of the enquiry while he was the DySP, said, CPM leadership realized the fact that he had gathered vital information about the Fasal murder when he interrogated Kodi Suni, the accused arrested in connection with the crime. He says, he was in the process of crosschecking if the information Suni gave were genuine. By that time home minister Kodiyeri summoned him and asked him to stop the investigation. Radhakrishnan says, Suni give the information that senior CPM leader Karai Chandrasekharan and his comrades plotted the murder. So, Kodiyeri realized that his party would fall into hot soup if the inquiry progressed; hence he was relieved from the enquiry, Radhakrishnan claims. Suni revealed the crucial information during the wee hours. But, by nine in the morning Kodiyeri transferred the case to the Crime Branch. Later on there was an attempt to Radhakrishnan’s life. Radhakrishnan says that it was with the co-operation of the CPM. He remained bed-ridden for one and half years. Meanwhile he was trapped in a fake case and was suspended, he says.

Fasal was killed on October 22, 2006 in Thalassery. Radhakrishnan could trace the CPM role in the murder within 15 days of the investigation. When the Crime Branch investigation led by its DySP progressed, Fasal’s mother was not satisfied about it; therefore she fought legal battle against it. Then the government appointed a special investigation team. Still she remained dissatisfied and she went to the high court again. At last court order came in favour of CBI inquiry. CBI submitted the charge sheet in June 2012. CPM leaders Karayi Rajan and Karai Chandrasekharan were named as the accused. Former officer’s revelation has come in the midst of the demand for including Kodiyeri in the list of the accused.

But, Radhakrishnan sticks on to his stand to stick on to the truth, come what may. Even though he has been conferred with IPS, still he has not got any appointment. He added, he does not get any salary either.

The latest development has demolished the fake CPM stories regarding the Fasal murder. From the very beginning they had tried to trap RSS in the case. They had even placed a blood stained kerchief near the house of a RSS worker. Kodiyeri had blamed RSS immediately after seeing the dead body in the morgue. But, DySP Radhakrishnan and CI Kumaran conducted the inquiry in the right direction. Even though CPM tried every dirty tricks to blame RSS in Fasal murder case, it did not work. The police threatened and subjected RSS worker Subhish to inhuman custody torture and managed to get him to own the responsibility of the Fasal murder before video camera. The video was leaked to visual media and it was propagated widely. But, Subhish told the truth before the court and CPM attempt failed miserably.

Mariyu, the widow of Fasal, said that the anxieties his family members had been raising since the very beginning about the doubtful direction of the case proceedings have been vindicated. DySP’s revelations have cleared the doubts.

The legal battle is decade long. Mariyu took every possible effort for his. According to CBI charge sheet Karayi Rajan and Karayi Chandrasekharan are the seventh and eighth accused respectively. Kodi Suni, the convict in the T.P. Chandrasekharan murder case, is the first accused.

BJP president Kummanam Rajasekharan demanded immediate interrogation of CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan and the police team who tried to sabotage the case. People has lost confidence in police since Pinarayi Vijayan took over the home ministry. Police turns killers in several murder cases. Police is always seen shady. That is why people always demand CBI inquiry. Dummies are always made the accused. If at all a real CPM man is arrested, they are ‘liberated’ from the custody by force. The innocent youths are subjected to custody torture. Jails are holiday resorts for the CPM criminals. Smart phones, alcohol and drugs are abundant there. They plot political murders from the jail. Police behave like CITU. Cell rule rules the roost in police stations. They participate in their association conferences wearing red shirts. They are no more the protectors of the peoples’ life and property but the task masters of CPM.

Kummanam is right. The utter failure in the government’s police policy, blatant favoritism, ruling party’s shameless murder politics, etc. have proved that the government is fascist, having not an iota of democratic principles. Day by day, law and order situation in the state is changing to worse from the bad.
