Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan allegedly refused to meet bereaved family members of Lithuanian tourist Liga Skromene

Liga Skromane, 33, has gone missing from an ayurvedic centre in Thiruvananthapuram

The mysterious death of Lit huanian tourist Liga Skromene is another blow to the home ministry controlled by CM Pinarayi Vijayan. He has proved since the day one of his regime that his home ministry is a disaster and insult to the whole state. Liga’s death is the latest in the series. Now, her family demands a high-level inquiry into the circumstances led to her death. Liga’s decomposed body was found at Tiruvallam near Kovalam, Thiruvananthapuram on April 21. And, her head was severed from the neck. The body was found on the banks of Karamana river in an isolated mangrove. Family members identified the body by her clothes and hairs. But, police await the results of the DNA tests before they confirm.
Liga’s sister Ilze told the reporters what their family’s demand is. She was all emotions. They want justice for Liga. Kerala Police had appointed a special investigation team to unearth the mysteries regarding Liga’s missing. The appointment took place ten days after her (Liga’s) family filed a missing complaint. Ilze was underlining the fact that the police launched an attempt to find her out only 10 days after she went missing. She said, that they all believed that Liga was murdered. Ilze and the deceased’s husband Andrews believe, there are serious lapses in the inquiry by police.
Interestingly, police had reported to have launched massive search since March 14. Police declared a cash prize of Rs 2 lakhs for revealing information about the missing woman.  The episode reveals once again that the home ministry, presided by the CM himself, is an utter failure. This is what the state has been witnessing since the very first day of Pinarayi in office. His fancy is in criticising BJP governments both at centre and in various states for every non-issue. That is why he went to Haryana and gave a relief fund of Rs 10 lakhs to the family of Hafiz Junaid who was killed in a train last year. He was exploiting the situation arose from the anti-Hindutva media’s propaganda that he was killed for eating beef. Later , it was proved that the dispute and murder had nothing to do with beef, but regarding a train seat. Punjab & Haryana High Court verdict upheld the same.

It is alleged that even though Liga”s family members got an appointment to meet CM Pinarayi Vijayan, he left the office five minutes before the time of appointment hence they lost an opportunity to meet the head of the administration and home ministry.  Now, time has proved that children, women and SC/ST sections are not at all safe under Pinarayi regime. People wonder what would have been the CPM’s reaction if Liga incident was in a north Bharath state.
