It refers to ever-controversial Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) at Delhi once again in news with students making human-chain around the administration-block of the University in violation of order from Delhi High Court. Such an indisciplined act made certain officials of the University sick being required to be even hospitalised. Even the demand of the students for
removing requirement of compulsory 75-percent attendance-norms for examinations is totally baseless. Universities should be for education and not for playing politics. Such an act of students justifies calling police on the campus, which was also criticised by the students. Office-bearers of Students-Union should have availed opportunity to meet the Vice Chancellor on scheduled afternoon of every first Monday of any month without even requiring any appointment.
The Central Government should evolve permanent solution to make JNU an ideal institution for education rather becoming a hub for political activities many of which are at times even against national and public interest. Procedure for admission of students and appointment of teachers should be thoroughly overhauled also because even many teachers at JNU are often found in such political activities which are not good for an academic institution. An academic institution run on subsidy through hard-earned money of tax-payers, must be used solely for educational activities rather than being misused for creation of political leaders of a particular ideology.

 — MADHU AGRAWAL, New Delhi

I was surprised, rather disturbed, that the students of JNU have boycotted their classes under the influence of comrades. They are saying that  they would not go to their classes although they are getting  scholarships from the Government. These people are lucky that they are studying in a famous university with scholarships. I went to Ramgarhia College Phagwara (Punjab) in 1959. The famous film actor Dharmendra also studied there a few years before me. My poor father gave my fees of the college with great difficulty. I used to  touch the feet of the principal and others to get the fee concession  I got 100 out of 150 marks in History in my BA exam. The college offered me free education in MA (History). I told the college professors that I cant avail of this opportunity because I had to become a teacher now to earn the bread for my poor family. These people are lucky that they are getting free education in a top most university almost free of cost. Their prime objective should be to get education and not to raise the anti-national slogans like “Azadi” for Kashmir.
The comrades always mislead innocent students. My younger brother was admitted in the same college in 1969.  A Naxalite professor misled him to become a Naxalite. This professor used to exploit the students for his selfish purposes. He would often ask the students to go on strike. He would also ask the students to insult the respected professors who were not friendly to him. Ramgarhia College Phagwara is a rural college. The people like me were able to study up to MA due to this college. But this professor was destroying the institution. Ultimately, I had to take my brother out of the clutches of the Naxalite professor. He studied and got a job. Similarly, the students of JNU must understand that their main aim should be the studies. They should free
themselves out of the clutches of the comrades and devote to the studies.

— Amarjit Singh Goraya, Australia

This university has become a kind of Mecca for Marxists. Mujaheddin and Missionaries are also getting benefits now and then. All the Communist teachers have been brain washing students for decades, thanks to Nehru and Indira who loved to use and play politics with Comrades. What to do to reduce this impact on our students? The only solution is to establish and enrich other schools & colleges with national considerations and offer scholarships to the students coming from poor families. We should also cut some programmes at JNU and transfer anti-national faculities or force them to retire. 85 per cent attendance should be made compulsory to all the students and if they fail to do so, they should be kicked out, and  give their place and scholarships to the more deserving students.

Need For Decisive Action

This is apropos the Article”Stone Pelters on Song, Army in Dock by Brig. (Retd.) Anil Gupta in Organiser (February 11, 2018). The article is well couched and depicts the prevailing scenario in the valley vis-a-vis army operations, stone- pelters, FIR Against Army. Apart from in the Kashmir valley, the Pak- sponsored terrorist activities have also gained momentum in the Jammu Region. They are keeping the borders boiling.
We need to be proactive in
dealing with the hostile neighbour and in-house anti-national elements. People want a perceptible paradigm shift from the top leadership in handling the hitherto intractable enemy in the form of hydra-headed terrorism.
