The Embassy of Israel hosted a party in honour of Bollywood actors in Mumbai. The Prime Minister sought to woo the film community by assuring that a good number of the audience has been awaiting a piece of Bollywood back home in Israel.
“We believe in India—Israel relationship. One of the most viral pictures occurred at the Oscars a few years ago. I’d like to invite the Bollywood stars to join me for a selfie so a few hundred million Indians and Israelis can see this phenomenal friendship. Jai Hind, Jai Maharashtra, Jai Israel!” the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu trumpeted proudly from the stage.
This led to a historic selfie, led by Amitabh Bachchan with the prime minister and other celebrities and
producers.
“Following PM Modi’s historic visit, two weeks ago we have passed several resolutions and one of them was films. We put forward a modest sum of 4 million shekels to begin with. We want Bollywood in Israel” said, Netanyahu.
Among the glitterati, apart from Big B, were Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Vivek Oberoi, Karan Johar, Randhir Kapoor, Subhash Ghai, Ronnie Screwvala and many others.
A Short Film depicting various locales in Israel where Bollywood can potentially shoot their films was shown to the gatherings.
“Drive” produced by Dharma Productions of Karan Johar reported to be the first Bollywood Film to be shot in Israel. The said film has Jacqueline Fernandez and Sushant Singh Rajput in lead roles.
