In Thiruvananthapuram, ABVP candidate Shirsha won the College Union election at sub centre of Sri Sankara University of Sanskrit, Kalati, which is a known bastion of SFI. The Saint of Home Coming
New Delhi: We the followers of Vedic Philosophy have always been accepting logical things without reservation. But certain misconceptions and superstitions were added into some of our practices due to repeated invasions and the society was gradually gripped in the clutches of certain wrong practices. Swami Shraddhanand tried to eliminate many wrong practices. He restored the dignity of women by bringing forth the contribution of women scholars in compilation of the Vedas,” said RSS Sahsarkaryavah Dr Krishna Gopal while addressing a gathering on 91st martyrdom day of the great saint on December 25.
He said anyone who realised and created the mantra became a sage and it had nothing to do with the caste, section etc. There were many Vedic sages who belonged to the so-called lower strata of the society, but achieved the sainthood due to their sadhana. Since some people made the Vedas inaccessible to certain sections of the society, Swami Dayananda and Swami Shraddhannand taught and prepared all sections of the society to recite the Vedic mantras. Swami Shraddhannad specifically brought the children who are called as Shudras to the hostels and called all of them Arya.
Swami Shraddhanand proved instrumental in starting the tradition of home coming at the time when doing it was treated as an offence. He performed hundreds of home coming yajnas and reconnected lakhs of people to the roots of their ancestors. It was because of such a brave act on his part that some people conspired to kill him. He created scores of educational institutions without the help of governments. Gurukul Kangari and the series of DAV schools are example of that.
