In an interview to a Malayalam weekly, former DGP TP Senkumar IPS(rtd) asserted that Love Jihad is rampant in Kerala and warned that the rise in birth rate among Muslims will change Kerala’s demography

In the summer of 2010, on July 24, the then Kerala Chief Minister and CPM stalwart VS Achuthanandan entered the conference room of Kerala House, New Delhi for the regular press conference on his visit. A specific question was asked by a journalist who worked for the Jamaat-e-Islami mouthpiece in Kerala, Madhyamam, on the alleged Human Right violations by the Kerala Police following the inquiry of the horrible incident of hand chopping of the Professor TJ Joseph (The members of the radical Islamist outfit Popular Front of India convicted in this case later). The translated transcript of the answer given by the CM is as follows:
“The patriots and nationalists would be participating in the procession during the Independence Day celebrations on August 15 every year. They (Popular Front of India) are trying to infiltrate in this custom. They plan to convert Kerala into a Muslim majority state. For this purpose, they brainwash the youth by luring money and subsequently get them converted to Islam. They marry Muslim women and then give birth to Muslim babies. Unlike other communities, they want to increase Muslim population by these means.”
It was an official statement by an elected Chief Minister in the country who held a constitutional obligation by oath. It was celebrated widely by all the media across the state as well as on a pan India basis. No one wanted to register a case under 153 A, 295 or 295 A for spreading hatred amongst two communities. But when a retired state Police Chief of Kerala reiterated the same argument after seven years, a huge cry originated from the pseudo-secularists as well as their Left patrons to take legal action against TP Senkumar, one of the most decorated police officers from the state.
TP Senkumar IPS, has an impeccable record all through. In his 32-year long career he served in various capacities in law and order as well as in administrative departments. Until last week he was the blue-eyed boy of the Congress and the anti-Pinarayi faction of the Left front who won a historical battle in the Supreme Court against the present CPM-led Left Front government, to regain his post of State Police Chief.
Soon after relinquishing the DGP (law and order) post which he legally attained from the government for the second time, he gave interviews to various news channels as well as to the print media. Various channels gave various versions of the interview, but Samakaleena Malayalam, a vernacular fortnightly from The New Indian Express group gave a blasting interview of him speaking on various subjects. Two answers given by him became controversial; he categorically said, there is no comparison between RSS and ISIS, in any of their nature. Secondly, he spoke the same lines which, the then CM VS Achuthanandan had done 7 years ago in Delhi. He spoke there is a calculated move to gain the majority by the Muslim groups. For that, they use love affair as their weapon. He also said that majority of that religion is alienating towards radicalism.
“If religious conversions happened over love, such things would have taken place in all religions. But such conversions happen only in the Muslim community,” he alleged. “The problem comes when a Muslim is taught he should follow jihad to attain heaven and that jihad is there when one converts some one into Islam and kills a non-Muslim. Jihad should not be understood by the Muslim community in the manner they understand now,” he said.
He spoke of “demographic change” and linked it to the alleged “growing Muslim population in Kerala”. “Of 100 births in the state, 42 belong to the Muslim community, which constitutes 27 per cent of the population. The birth rate of Hindus, which constitutes 54 per cent of the population, is below 48.5 per cent. The birth rate of Christians, who constitute 19 per cent of the state’s population, is 15 per cent. If demography goes on changing in this manner, what kind of change would be taking place in Kerala in the future? Although the Christian birth rate is falling down, yet their population is not falling because of the conversions they are doing,”he said.
The statistics claimed by him corroborate a recent news report in Kerala Kaumudi, an influential newspaper in the state. It relying on the statistics from the local self-govt report, states that in 2015 41.45 per cent of the total birth recorded in the state belonged to Muslim community. As per the 2011 census, the Muslim population in the state comprised of 26.56 per cent. The report analyses the death rate also which sets an alarm that, if this pace continues, in 5 years minority population (both Christian and Muslim) will have the majority over the state, whereas Hindus will become the minority. An interesting point to be noted is the Christian population is also on the decline as per the birth rate.
The truth is always bitter. But the truth needs to be said louder too, so did the former CM and the DGP of Kerala on various occasions. The ugly hypocrisy revealed its colours when the ruling front didn’t see any cognisable offence in its former CM’s words, but they made a thorough research on whether TP Senkumar can be prosecuted for his interview and interestingly they have a positive legal opinion in their favour. Already this Govt had enough scolding from the Supreme Court while locking horns with Senkumar and now they plan to have another round of it.
